Good Fats & Reading Food Labels
We all know the “fat free” fad has been around the food market for years on end. What you didn’t know is that these “fat free” foods are typically now loaded with sugar. Sugar is a large factor of weight gain. I always suggest reading labels. Inside is a great chart to reading food labels and recommendations. My recommendation, shop OUTSIDE the isles at the grocery store for fresh foods!
Some fat, like those in nuts, seeds and oily varieties of fish provide essential fatty acids (including the omega-3 variety). These essential fats are important for maintaining healthy blood vessels, making hormones and for the correct functioning of our nervous system. Fats help us absorb certain vitamins, which include A, D, E and K.
Focus on healthier fats and include more fish, nuts, seeds and vegetable oils including avocado and olive.
It may feel like a hassle, but knowing what you are putting inside your body can correct a life time of food errors to keep you living happier and healthier daily.
